Metro Train services may soon be resumed in Unlock 4, Final Call with States, says Centre

The decision to resume metro services is on the shoulders of state governments, and Delhi Metro is likely to begin services from September 1, but with extensive restrictions, according to the sources.
New Delhi: The pandemic has completely changed the lifestyle of humans; the restrictions imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 have given a tight blow to the travel services in India. On the same notion, Delhi has suffered a lot because the lifeline of the Capital, Metro is no longer in service since the first lockdown in the nation.
Delhiites, in years, have never given a second thought to travel because of the availability of cheap Metro services, but this virus has reversed the whole scenario and left the capital paralyzed.
Fortunately, the Metro rail services will be resumed in the Unlock 4 and the restrictions will be soon be uplifted from the next month as per the government sources. However, schools and colleges will remain closed and the same restrictions will be continued in crowded places like cinemas, halls, etc. The final decision is in the hands of the state governments. Delhi Metro is soon likely to resume services from September 1, but with
extensive restrictions.
The talk of opening the Delhi Metro ignited after a request from the Chief Minister of the capital, Arvind Kejriwal, who become confident and also assured that the coronavirus situation in Delhi has improved. I have requested the Centre that Delhi should be treated differently," Mr Kejriwal said yesterday via virtual meet with traders, entrepreneurs and businessmen.
The coronavirus situation is improving in Delhi. If they do not want to run Metro trains in other cities, let it be so. But, in Delhi, Metro train services should be started in a phased manner, on a trial basis, he added.
The Centre also resonates with the Chief Minister’s plea as the flight and train services have resumed in which the passengers need to be inside for several hours. Quite a contrast with the Metro journey, which cannot stretch for more than two hours. It can be possible with all the safety measures and alerts at metro stations.
The Unlock3 guidelines that came on June 30 curbed the night curfew and allowed the opening of Yoga institutes that don’t fall in the category of containment zones. Restrictions will remain in the areas of large gatherings like educational institutes, public parks, and cinema halls.
